Inverewe Garden & Estate is a lush oasis, thriving with wildlife, rising up from the shores of Loch Ewe. Set amidst the magnificent landscape of Wester Ross, Inverewe is home to rare plants from all over the world. You wouldn’t expect exotic plants to flourish at such a northerly latitude, but they do – all thanks to the warm currents of the North Atlantic Drift and a vital shelterbelt that protects the garden from storms.
Sadly, we face a huge challenge at Inverewe Garden that could endanger the precious plant collection, unless we act now. Can you help us? A gift of £38 will plant one tree in the shelterbelt and help protect this beautiful garden for future generations. Recent severe storms, have blown over many long-established trees in the shelterbelt and resulting gaps now allow the ferocious wind to rip through, causing damage to our rare rhododendrons and other historical plants.
Our committed Gardens Team and volunteers are prepared to battle against the elements to ensure the survival of Inverewe’s botanical treasures, but they cannot do it alone. Please join us in protecting Inverewe Garden for another 150 years. If we are fortunate enough to exceed our target of £42,000 for Inverewe Garden, donations will be allocated to the Gardens Fund, which is dedicated to providing support to other National Trust for Scotland gardens in need.
If you have not yet visited Inverewe Garden & Estate, I urge you to make the journey through stunning Highland scenery and see for yourself the difference your gift will make. It’s a place you’ll never forget. When you and your family visit in years to come, I hope that you can gaze up at the tall trees that shelter the garden, protecting the exotic ornamental trees and flowering shrubs that surround you, and know that you helped put them there.
ps. If you prefer, you can also set up a Direct Debit to support this appeal - just £6.50 a month (over a year) will help plant two trees at Inverewe. That’s less than the price of a weekly cup of coffee! Please call us on 0844 493 2100 if you’d like to set up a Direct Debit
